Nexans YSLF 24kV -we lay down the future
The medium-voltage cable of the future – coming soon to a trench near you.
Easier recycling. Lower carbon footprint.
YSLF 24 kV represents a new generation of medium-voltage cables for distribution networks with thermoplastic insulation (TPI). The cable has been developed and manufactured with a focus on more future-oriented material choices and environmentally efficient technology. By combining low-carbon aluminium, recycled materials and TPI, YSLF achieves a climate footprint that is approximately 35% lower than traditional alternatives*.
Unlike PEX insulation, TPI can be melted down and reused. This makes resource recovery easier and enables a more circular use of materials – without compromising performance or operational reliability in the medium-voltage network.

Why choose Nexans YSLF 24kV?
- Low-carbon aluminium conductor: the aluminium is produced using renewable energy and has lower CO2 emissions than average European aluminium.
- Thermoplastic insulation (TPI): can be remelted and reused, unlike traditional PEX insulation, for better circularity
- Outer sheath made from recycled plastic: the cable's outer sheath is made from recycled PE plastic to reduce resource consumption.
- Easy to work with: a ribbed thread makes stripping easier and it is just as flexible and easy to handle as its predecessor during installation and assembly.
Technical advantages:
- Resistant to water swelling: well suited to the demanding Nordic climate. For long service life and operational reliability
- Customised delivery lengths: and customer/project marking
- NX drums and Tromløp 2.0 with geo-tracking and efficient return system for recycling
- Lifemark marking makes it easy to identify materials for easier recycling
- Can be supplied with integrated ground wire, optical fibre cable and surveying wire.
Manufactured in the Nordic region:
The new YSLF medium-voltage cable, or other similar TPI cables (such as FL-EXXE), are manufactured at Nexans' new, state-of-the-art factory in Grimsås, Sweden. Only four hours from Oslo.
The new factory in Sweden marks the beginning of a new era in Nordic cable production. Nordic production also means shorter transport distances, lower emissions, high quality and local expertise.
