Until the electrician do us part. Nexans hybrid cable EXQ/GRHAL
Feb 26, 2026
When electricity and fiber work in sync
Some installations require more than just power. And some signals need more than just data. But getting electricity and fiber to coexist in the same space has historically been a challenge — both technically and practically.
Until now. The Nexans Hybrid Cable combines power supply, fiber optics and communication in one single sheath. Two technologies, one pull and zero double work.
Two worlds. One cable. Fewer frustrations
The hybrid cable is designed for installations where power and data must run in parallel, but where time, space and patience are limited resources.
With its figure‑8 construction, the cable is easy to separate. This means the electrician can focus on their part, and the fiber technician on theirs, without getting in each other’s way. Everyone stays on their own side of the cable — and no one cuts into something they shouldn’t.
The result? More efficient installations, lower costs and a smoother workflow.
Learn more about this:
- Power, fiber and communication in the same cable
- Splitable figure‑8 design
- Compatible with the market’s leading system suppliers
- Less coordination between professional groups
- Easier planning and fewer work steps
- Reduces the need for separate conduits, fittings, and channels
- Ideal for modernization, upgrades and new installations
Typical applications
The hybrid cable is especially suitable for distances over 100 meters, where PoE+ is no longer sufficient. It is adapted for AC installations, providing lower voltage drop over long distances compared to DC‑based alternatives — a clear advantage when installing, for example, light poles or other peripheral units. Perfect for external perimeter protection, including light poles and other fixed installations in exposed environments.
• Centralized UPS
• CCTV
• Access points (WiFi, IoT)
• Access control systems
• Security solutions in industrial and property environments
Two functions. One flow.
Some things are best kept separate — like electricity and data. But at Nexans in Grimsås, challenges are meant to be solved. Our team has developed a solution that combines both electricity and data in the same cable, while still giving each of them their own space.
The result? A cable that delivers power and fiber without compromise.
