Heating cables extend the growing season for vegetables
The desire to heat up the ground to be able to grow vegetables earlier in the year resulted in the invention og the heating cable.
Already in 1922 operations engineer Georg Jacobsen at Akers electricity plant started to experiment with electrical heating of the so-called hotbeds used in gardening.
Several newspaper articles from 1927 to 1931 refers to the Norwegian inventor. Scandinavian Cable and Gummifabrik (SKG) was granted a patent for electric heating cable in 1927 and produced the heating cables.
